The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre presents a new program of one-act ballets, consisting of a revival of Jiří Kylián’s Petite mort and the Russian premieres of Autodance by Sharon Eyal and KAASH by Akram Khan.

The first ballet of the program is the masterpiece by Czech choreographer Jiří Kylián Petite mort.

“Jiří Kylián’s Petite mort is about the eternal relationship between love and death, coming together at the highest point of love ecstasy”.
Laurent Hilaire,
Artistic Director of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Ballet
The premiere of the one-act ballet Petite mort took place on 11 July 2010.

Exquisite, highly intelligent entertainment – this is how the Swedish press wrote about the premiere of Autodance*, created by the famous Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal together with Guy Behar for the Gothenburg Ballet Company in 2018. According to the creator, the work is woven from the very essence of the movement in all its purity and clarity. The dancers appear to be asexual and the focus shifts to the movements of their legs. In the space of Autodance, dance, the technique of its implementation and music in the genre of “techno” organically merge: this is a solid, visually rich and precisely constructed spectacle.

* The production was created in collaboration with the Mart Foundation.
* The premiere of Autodance is supported by the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Russian Federation.

Akram Khan is one of the most famous dancers and choreographers of our time. His reputation is based on the success of experimental, but at the same time understandable to the general public, works such as Until the Lions: Echoes from the Mahabharata, iTMOi, DESH etc. His first full-length ballet KAASH premiered in 2002. The starting points for the creation of this performance were “hindu deities, black holes, Indian time cycles, tabla, creation and destruction”. This production represents сhoreographer’s desire to build bridges between the worlds of modern dance and Indian classical dance “Kathak”.
