The first prize winner of the 3rd Paganini Violin Competition in Moscow (2005), Ivan Pochekin was born in 1987 in a family of musicians — his father is a famous violin maker and mother is a violin teacher. At the age of 5 he started to play violin and 2 years later gave his first performance with the symphonic orchestra. In 1994 he entered the Moscow Conservatory’s central music school. He also owed his earliest success to his mother who has been helping Ivan with his professional studies for 10 years. From 2001 to 2004 violinist studied at the Moscow Conservatory’s College of Music, and subsequently entered Hochschule for music in Kцln where he studies with Viktor Tretyakov.
In 2002 Ivan performed at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory for the first time, and his interpretation of Violin Concerto No. 2 by Prokofiev created a tremendous sensation. Since then his performed in Russia, Japan, Austria and other European countries with great success.

Ivan is a scholar of some significant funds in Russia, Liechtenstein and Croatia. He participates regularly in international festivals together with many leading chamber and symphonic orchestras including Moscow Philharmonic, Svetlanov Symphonic Orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphonic Orchestra (Croatia), Oviedo Philharmonic Orchestra (Spain), German Chamber Orchestra and collaborated with the most known conductors as Friedrich Heider, Eugeny Bushkov, Alexander Skulsky, Sergey Skripka and many others. He appeared in a number of major concert halls such as Moscow State Conservatory, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall (Zagreb), Bunka Kaikan (Tokyo), Auditorium (Oviedo) etc.

After winning the Paganini Competition in Moscow, with a support by Russian Violin Art Fund, Ivan released a CD with Paganini and Chausson’s compositions. “Chanson Russe”, his first CD that he recorded for “Philartists” label, included works by Tchaikovsky (Meditation, op.42), Prokofiev (Sonata in D major, op.94bis), Stravinsky (Chanson Russe), Szymanovski (Sonatas, op.9) and Khachaturian (Nocturne and Waltzes from "Masquerade"). Margarita Kravchenko, one of the most striking personalities on the Moscow music scene, accompanies him on the piano. In 2007 the young violinist signed a contract with the worldly famous “Naxos” label for the recordings of all Paganini violin concertos.

Starting from 2008/2009 concert season Ivan Pochekin joined the Moscow Philharmonic Society Artists Management which represents him exclusively in Russia.
