Moscow symphony orchestra (Orchestra) MOSCOW SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA - today is one of the leading capital orchestras. The Moscow Symphony Orchestra is the first independent orchestra in Russia established with private resources and free of state support, was founded in 1989. Since the very beinning the orchestra became an active participant of the Moscow musical life, it has performed under famous Russian and foreign conductors among them J. Panula, V. Ziva, A. Katz, S. Stadler, I. Golovchin, A. Kornienko and with many outstanding soloists such as Y. Bashmet, V. Tretiakov, V. Repin, V. Viardo, A. Knyazev, A. Rudin and others.
The Moscow Symphony Orchestra is well known not only in Russia, but also abroad. The Orchestra has performed successful concerts in United States, Japan, South Korea, and Western Europe. Moscow Symphony Orchestra has performed with different ballets many times, for example, in 1995 in Hong Kong, in 1997in the USA, in 2001 it took part in the Festival of Russian Art in Cannes, France.
Aside from its extensive concert programs the orchestra has been recognized for its outstanding recordings. Recordings of the all symphonies by Italian composer Malipiero was crowned with "Disk of the month", by magazine "CD review" (US) and become the winner of the "Diapason D`OR" prise. Disks "The Snow of Kilimajaro" and "Five Fingers" gets into the top ten recordings of the year in 2001, by international journal "The Economist".
The Moscow Symphony Orchestra traditionaly participated in charity projects - concert with the Ronald McDonalds foundation for disabled children, charity concert for the Russian Medical Doctor`s Association, special concert commemorating the Memorial Day of the Genocide of the Armenian People. During a few years the MSO providing the free performances with the winners of the "Young Artists Assembly" competition, and also concerts with the laureates of "New names" foundation. Since 2003 the MSO together with the orchestra`s General sponsor "Nestle" and museum "Archangelskoe" produce a series of outdoors concerts with all the proceeds directed for the reconstruction of the Main Archangelskoe Palace.
Since 1996 under the general sponsorship of "Nestle" the MSO performs annually a series of concerts in the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. The main achievement during the past years is that the MSO has acquired its own audience due to the high professionalism and a very interesting repertoire.
