Twyla Tharp set up her own Company Twlya Tharp Dance in 1965. In 1988, she joined American Ballet Theatre. Her ballets are in the repertoires of the Paris Opera, the Royal Ballet, New York City Ballet and other companies. She started working with Mikhail Baryshnikov in 1991. She has created over 125 ballets, 4 Broadway shows, has worked in cinema with Milosh Forman (Hair, Ragtime, Amadeus) and other film directors. She is a recipient of a Tony Award (for the Broadway musical Movin’Out) and two Emmy Awards (for the television program Baryshnikov by Tharp).
