Alexander Volchkov (Dancer)
Biography
Born in Moscow. In 1997, having trained at the Moscow
Choreographic College (today the Moscow Choreographic Academy), in Leonid
Zhdanov’s class, he joined the Bolshoi Ballet Company. His constant coach is
Vladimir Nikonov.

Tours
In 2002, he danced the title role in Yuri Grigorovich's Romeo
and Juliet for the Kremlin Ballet Company - in a performance to mark
the choreographer's jubilee. In the same year, he appeared with the Tbilisi
Theatre of Opera and Ballet, dancing Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake
(Konstantin Sergeyev production) and the Prince in The Nutcracker
(choreography - Yuri Grigorovich). In 2003, he took part in the Rudolf Nureyev
Festival of Ballet in Ufa, where he appeared in The Sleeping Beauty
and danced the title role in Romeo and Juliet (choreography - Yuri
Grigorovich).
Awards
In 2001, he won the
2nd prize at the International Competition of Young Ballet Dancers,
in Kazan.
