James Quinlan (Contrabass)
James Quinlan is a Brooklyn-based bassist, arranger, and composer. The scope of his work reflects a life spent immersed in music in all its diversity. He is equally strong playing stand-up or electric bass; jazz, rock, world, or classical.
Growing up in the melting pot of Miami and continuing with studies at the esteemed University of Miami Frost School of Music, the young musician played with legendary jazz, Latin and Caribbean artists, indie rockers, pop groups and classical orchestras. Upon graduation, James honed his chops for a year as a bassist touring with jazz ensembles throughout Europe and the Caribbean before settling in New York City.
Now living in the musical hotbed of Brooklyn, he is performing in several diverse groups that allow him to continue to explore, connect, and grow. In addition to his work as a bass player, he has composed and arranged music for groups, and composed soundtracks for several short films and documentaries.
