Chloe Hanslip (Violin soloist)

At the age of 21, Chloe Hanslip has already established herself as an artist of distinction on the international stage. Her recent recordings for Naxos have received outstanding reviews and include John Adams Violin Concerto and Romantic Concertos by Benjamin Godard. Her two earlier CDs with the London Symphony Orchestra for Warner Classics, won her, respectively, the German Echo Klassik. Award for Best Newcomer (2002), and Young British Classical Performer at the Classical BRITS (2003). Her impressive recording catalogue continues to grow with a recital disc of works by Bazzini, which gained superlative reviews, and her latest recording – Hubay Concertos with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra – released in 2009.
Chloe’s talent was recognised when she appeared as the «infant prodigy violinist» in Ralph Fiennes’ film adaptation of Pushkin`s 'Evgeny Onegin', and made a significant contribution to Maxim Vengerov’s Master Class, shown on Channel 4 and throughout Europe, as part of the documentary «Playing by Heart». Chloe’s mentor for 10 years has been the Russian pedagogue Zakhar Bron. She has also worked with Robert Masters, Ida Haendel, Salvatore Accardo, and Gerhard Schulz.

She made her BBC Proms debut in 2002, her US concerto debut in 2003, and has performed in major venues in the UK (Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall) and Europe (Vienna Musikverein, Louvre and Salle Gaveau-Paris, The Hermitage-St.Petersburg) as well as Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Arts Space in Tokyo and the Seoul Arts Centre.

In the 2005-06 season Chloe made an impressive debut with Mariss Jansons and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerische Rundfunk in the Munich Gasteig. Orchestras she has performed with include the Philharmonia, London Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, Halle, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National, Bournemouth Symphony, Academy of St.Martin-in-the-Fields, London Mozart Players, Seattle Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic, Moscow State Symphony, Czech National Symphony, Lithuanian National Symphony, Belgrade Philharmonic, Munich Symphony, Lahti Symphony and the Tokyo Symphony.

Conductors she has worked with include Mariss Jansons, Sir Andrew Davis, Leonard Slatkin, Paul Daniel, Pavel Kogan, Richard Hickox, Gianandrea Noseda, Gerard Schwarz, Barry Wordsworth, Claus Peter Flor, Martyn Brabbins, Paul Freeman and Petr Altrichter. In the 2008-09 season she made her debut with Tonkunstler Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (Parvo Jarvi), RAI Torino – Tate and Norwegian Radio Symphony (Jurowski).

Chamber Music has become an integral part of Chloe`s life. She is a regular participant in Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove, working with Steven Isserlis and Gerhard Schulz, and at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland where she returned for the 40th Anniversary celebrations in 2009.

She was chosen to perform the European premiere of Sir John Tavener’s «Ikon of Eros», and the world premiere of the first extract of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s «Phantasia on Phantom of the Opera». Chloe is actively pursuing new and unusual repertoire to add to her extensive concerti, recital and recording programmes.
