Sergey Stadler (Violin) (Violin soloist)

Violinist and conductor. One of the most famous musicians in Russia.

Born May 20, 1962, Saint-Petersburg. Completed the specialized musical school of the Saint-Petersburg Conservatory, graduated from the Saint-Petersburg Conservatory, and accomplished the master class at the Moscow Conservatory. Studied under B. A. Sergeyev, M. I. Vaiman, K. L. Gutnikov, L. B. Kogan, V. V. Tretyakov, took lessons from D. F. Oistrakh. Toured over 50 countries. Produced about 50 CD’s.

Prizewinner in international Competitions:

· 1976: First Prize in the "Concertino Prague" Competition;

· 1979: Grand Prix and the Special Prize for top performance of French music in the M. Long and J. Thibaud International Competition (Paris);

· 1980: Second Prize and the Public Preference Special Prize in the J. Sibelius Competition (Helsinki);

· 1982: First Prize and the Gold Medal in the P.I. Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow).

Over the last years, Sergey Stadler performs together with the following pianists: Y. Kissin, V. Sawalliseh, М. Pletnyov, P. Donohoe, B. Douglas, М. Dalberto, J. Thibaudet, G. Opitz, and pianist Y. Stadler, as well as with renowned conductors: Y. Svetlanov, G. Rozhdestvensky, V. Gergyev, Y. Temirkanov, М. Yansons, S. Bychkov, V. Sawalliseh, К. Mazur, L. Gardelli, V. Neuman, etc. He performs with the Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, State Orchestra of the Russian Federation, Russian National Orchestra, Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, etc. Participates in music festivals in the Russian Federation and abroad: in Salzburg, Vienna, Istanbul, Athens, Helsinki, Boston, Bregenz, Prague, Majorca, Spoleto, and Provence.

From 1984 to 1989: professor at the Saint-Petersburg Conservatory, taught master classes in Norway, Poland, Finland, Portugal, and Singapore. Organized the "Paganini Violin in the Hermitage" festival and became the only violinist who performed on the legendary violin in open concerts. Author of the idea for the "Music in the Hermitage Halls" project. Founded the Hermitage Music Academy. Due to his unique memory, Sergey Stadler has a huge musical repertoire to perform from. In his activity as a conductor, Sergey Stadler gives priority to major symphonic and opera works. He won various prizes for performing Requiem (Verdi), Turangalila (Messiaen), Symphony No. 8 (Bruckner), and producing such operas as Tosca (Puccini), The Queen of Spades (Tchaikovsky), and Boris Godunov (Musorgsky). Produced such operas as Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky) – in the famous Warsaw Chamber Opera, Trojans (Berlioz) – which premiered in Russia as well as "Peter I" (A. Gretry), in the Moscow Helicon Theater.

During the period of 5 years, he was Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory of Opera and Ballet. Winner of numerous prizes and medals. People's Artist of Russia. Artistic Director of the International Annual Perm Music Festival, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the new St.-Petersburg Symphony Orchestra that was made up of festival winners, music director and chief conductor Ekaterinburg State opera. From the beginning of concert seasons of 2007-2008 years Sergey Stadler is appointed the chief conductor of the "Symphony orchestra of Russia".
