Tito Ceccherini (Conductor)

A supporter of contemporary music, he has collaborated with such composers as Salvatore Sciarrino, Alessandro Solbiati, Stefano Gervasoni. Highlights of the several world premieres include the posthumous performance of Sette by Niccolo Castiglioni and the recent production of Da gelo a gelo by Salvatore Sciarrino with Klangforum Wien.

Tito Ceccherini founded the ensemble "Risognanze", a prestigious group with a variable ensemble, with which he performed masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire from Debussy to our days and registered works of Sciarrino, Castiglioni, Grisey.

Deeply involved in ancient music, he has collaborated with ensembles such as the Finnish "Rocinante" and the Milanese "Arcomelo", who perform the repertoire of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on period instruments.

In the concert field Ceccherini has conducted leading orchestras, among which the BBC Symphony, SWR Stuttgart, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI (with whom he recorded a monographic CD dedicated to Giacinto Scelsi, 3CDs box of Salvatore Sciarrino' symphonic works, as well as works by Daugherty and Nyman), and important ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, Contrechamps, OENM, Divertimento Ensemble in major venues and international festivals (Munchner Biennale, Schwetzingen Festspiele, Cite de la Musique…).

As an operatic conductor, he conducted I Puritani and Guntram at the Teatro Bellini in Catania,  Sciarrino's world premiere of Da gelo a gelo at the Schwetzinger Festspiele, Opera National in Paris and at the Grand Theatre de Geneve, the new production of De Majo's Alessandro and Donizetti's Maria Stuarda at the Nationaltheater in Mannheim.

Highlights of his upcoming engagements include his return to the BBC Symphony, his debuts with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie and his return to the Schwetzinger Festspiele, Orchestre de Chambre de Geneve, Orchestra Haydn in Bolzano…

On the opera side: De Majo's Alessandro and Sciarrino's La porta della legge both at the Nationaltheater in Mannheim, the world premiere of Fenelon's La Cerisaie at the Bolshoi Theatre and at the Opera National de Paris...

Tito Ceccherini records for Amadeus, Col legno, Kairos, Stradivarius, greatly acclaimed from both audience and press with "Choc" du Monde de la Musique and Diapason D'Or. The recording of Sciarrino's Lohengrin for Col legno has been awarded at the MIDEM CLASSICAL AWARDS.

He has been teaching in Europe and Japan and is a member of the Montegral Academy. At the moment, he holds the chair of conducting and orchestral exercises at the Innsbruck Landeskonservatorium.

Born in Milan in 1973, Tito Ceccherini studied at the Milan Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi with Giovanni Carmassi (piano), Alessandro Solbiati (composition) and Vittorio Parisi (conducting). He went on studying in Russia, Germany and Austria, completing his musical talents with Peter Eotvos (in Karlsruhe), Sandro Gorli and Gustav Kuhn.
