duo Lightfoot Leon come up with new work in this season`s first programme of
Nederlands Dans Theater II. The duo already has many successful dance pieces to
its name and time and again proves its qualities. Lightfoot Leon, who have
worked together since 1991 and have been house choreographer of Nederlands Dans
Theater since mid-2002, are gradually taking a more theatrical path. In
Passe-Partout (2009) they pointedly add words and the dancers` voices
to their own unique dance idiom. The expressive merging of sound and vision in
combination with the strong use of music, costumes, light and set has proved a
huge impulse.

Cacti Choreographer Alexander Ekman
In his years as choreographer, Alexander Ekman has proved that he is an
artistic multitalent. For one thing, he often makes film productions as well.
Though usually integrated in the young Swede's choreographies, these productions
also arouse more and more interest on their own. In June 2009, for instance, he
will be working on a dance film for and with the Cullberg Ballet and in the
autumn of this year he worked on a theatre play together with Mats Ek, who has
asked him to make video projections for this piece. Not long ago, Alexander
Ekman made a museum installation for the Modern Museum in Stockholm, in which
the dancers of the Cullberg Ballet were the art objects. Moreover, he has
composed music for many of his dance pieces, with a wide variety of rhythms. The
sets for his performances are usually of his own design.
