Jyrki Anttila (Tenor)
He studied at the Oulu Conservatoire and at the Sibelius Academy Opera Studio. His teacher since 1996 has been Jaakko Ryhanen. He took the prize for opera at the Somero Tenor Competition in 1997 and won the competition for an opera singing scholarship held in Tampere in 1999.
At the Savonlinna Opera Festival he has sung the First Armed Man in Die Zauberfloete, the Duke in Rigoletto, Shemeikka in Aarre Merikanto‘s Juha, Erik in Der Fliegende Hollaender.
In 2002 he made his debut at the Leipzig Opera as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly.
At the Finnish National Opera, where he has been a soloist since 1998, his roles have included Gaston in La traviata, the title role in Haydn‘s Orlando Paladino, Sir Hervey in Anna Bolena, Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca, the Drum Major in Berg‘s Wozzeck, Matteo in Strauss‘ Arabella and Felix Yusupov in Einojuhani Rautavaara‘s Rasputin.
