Oxana Kornievskaya (Mezzo-soprano)

Born in Vladivostok. In 1995, she completed her studies at the Russian Far East State Academy of the Arts (department of solo singing) and in 1998 - her post-graduate studies at the Academy (Valentina Ruban‘s class).

In 1992, she was awarded 2nd prize in the international New Names program; in 1998, she won a special prize for the best performance of Mussorgsky‘s works at the 9th International Tchaikovsky Competition; in 2001 - she was the recipient of the Recognition prize at the International Umberto Giordano Competition of Vocalists, Foggia (Italy).

In 2002, she joined the Galina Vishnevskaya Centre for Opera where she sings the following roles: Ratmir (Ruslan and Lyudmila), Lyubasha (The Tsar‘s Bride), The Prompter (Vladimir Erenberg‘s Vampuka, the African Princess), Title role (Carmen).
She has taken part in many concerts under the aegis of the Centre.

She has also rehearsed these roles at the Centre: Marfa (Khovanshchina), The Countess (The Queen of Spades), Lyubov (Mazeppa), Duenna (Sergei Prokofiev‘s Betrothal in a Monastery), Varvara (Rodion Shchedrin‘s Not only Love), Azucena (Il Trovatore), Amneris (Aida), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Dalila (Samson et Dalila), Solokha (Pyotr Tchaikovsky‘s Cherevichki).

In 2003 and 2004, she sang Lucia (Cavalleria rusticana), in several towns in the south of Italy (accompanied by the Udmurt Republican Symphony Orchestra, conductor Luigi Quadrini). There she also took part in a performance of Beethoven‘s Symphony No. 9.

She has toured in many Russian towns (including Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Saint-Petersburg, Vladivostok, Orenburg) and also in Germany, France, South Africa, Japan, Macedonia, Georgia, Azerbaijan.
She participated in the 14th Sviatoslav Richter Fund Music Festival at Tarusa.

During her Japanese tours (Tokyo and Kobe) she took part in performances of Johann Bach‘s Mass in B minor and Mozart‘s Mass in D major.

In 2007, she was invited as guest artist to sing the role of The Mother in the opera Fallen from the sky (after Prokofiev‘s opera The Story of a Real Man) for Helicon-Opera.

As a dramatic actress she takes part in the sound-drama Morphia after Bulgakov at Moscow‘s Et Cetera Theatre (Amneris).

She made her Bolshoi Theatre debut in 2005 in the premiere production of War and peace singing the part of Helene Bezukhova (and in the same year she also sang Akhrosimova in the same production).
